A child called. Dave Pelzer's story is the story of a child brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother: a mother who played torturous, unpredictable games -- games that left one of her three sons nearly dead. Dave had to learn how to play his mother's games in order to survive because she no longer considered him a son, but a slave, and no longer a boy but an 'it'.

Welcome to the Literature Lounge

In collaboration with Worthington Libraries, Upper Arlington Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library,  ITSCO is excited to present the Literature Lounge Book Talks, a professional development series for K-12 teachers. Through the Literature Lounge, teachers may take part in a series of literature talks offered via interactive video conferencing (IVC). Each Book Talk presented by the participating libraries will be approximately one hour long and will introduce and review noteworthy books for students.

Through Infohio teachers now have the opportunity to view each hour long Book Talk, broken down into short single Book Talks.  Using the Browse and Search features teachers may easily find the book they are interested in and watch the short review.

For a listing of our current Book Talks schedule go to http://www.itsco.org/content/featured-programs-literature-lounge

If your school or library is interested in participating go to http://www.itsco.org/content/literature-lounge-participant.
